Why Should I volunteer at the Wells Fargo Championship?
Our Ambassadors play a massive role in ensuring that every facet of our Tournament Operations run smoothly. Volunteering at the Wells Fargo Championship will give you access to a behind-the-scenes experience at a premiere PGA TOUR event. You will be given the opportunity to make memories, work with others, and gain professional experience.
How do I become a volunteer?
On our website, there is a portal to our Registration System. You can also complete the registration by clicking here.
I volunteered last year; do I need to register again for this year?
Yes, even if you volunteered last year you will need to register for the upcoming year. You can find the registration link here.
Is there an age requirement to volunteer?
The Wells Fargo Championship requires Ambassadors to be sixteen (16) years old at the time of the tournament. Shotlink and Walking Scorers must be eighteen (18) years old.
How will I know what committee I am on and what shifts I am assigned to?
You can check the status of your registration and all scheduling details at any time by clicking here and logging into your ambassador profile. If you have questions about this, please reach out to your chairperson or hole captain.
What is the Ambassador Uniform?
As part of the Ambassador Uniform Package, you will be receiving a Wells Fargo Championship Levelwear golf shirt. Each shift you work, this golf shirt and your WFC headwear is to be worn with your credentials badge, khaki bottoms (skort, shorts, capris, or pants), and comfortable (closed toe) shoes.
When and where do I pick up my Uniform and Credentials?
Pick up information for the 2023 tournament is TBD and will be updated here once finalized.
What if I am from out-of-state and cannot pick up my Uniform and Credentials until later in the week (not at the designated pick-up)? Can I pick them up at my first shift?
Yes, this is not a problem. While we highly encourage everyone to pick up their Uniform and Credentials during the designated pick-up time, we will have an on-site Ambassador Uniform and Credentials pick-up location. Please keep in mind that if you are picking up from the on-site location prior to your assigned shift, you will need to keep your change of clothes in your Ambassador Backpack. There will be nowhere to store your belongings.
I sent in an application to be an ambassador, but now I can’t work due to an emergency, etc. Can I get a refund?
Should an ambassador be unable to fulfill their obligations and work their assigned shift(s) due to unforeseen circumstances, the ambassador has the option to receive a refund. Refunds will NOT be given after March 1, 2023. As a reminder, refunds will only be given for emergency situations or heath concerns.
How long can I expect the shifts to be?
Ambassador shifts do vary in length depending upon your assigned Committee. Shifts can range anywhere from four (4) to twelve (12) hours. For specific information about a given Committee, please feel free to email or ask your Committee Chair.
Where do I park for my shift? Is there Handicap Parking available?
Yes, Handicap Parking will be available. Additional information will be shared as the tournament gets closer.
What training can I expect to receive for my role?
Ambassador Training will vary depending upon your assigned Committee. This information will be actively sent out and communicated by your Committee Chair.
What do I do with my belongings during my Volunteer Shift? What should I bring with me?
There will not be designated areas for volunteers to leave their belongings during shifts. We recommend you use your Ambassador Backpack and/or keep only what is needed on your person. We recommend bringing sunscreen, WFC headwear, and rain gear (weather-dependent). Cell phones are allowed on tournament grounds but must stay in silent mode.
Are there designated Hotel and Discounted Rates for Tournament Ambassadors?
Yes. Please click here to see our offerings.
Are meals provided? Is there a designated place I can go to enjoy my lunch/break or grab water?
Yes. There will a selection of grab-and-go snacks and water at Ambassador Alley. Ambassadors will also receive Food and Water Vouchers that can be used at specific food venues on the course which include an entrée, snack, and beverage allowance. Please note that these vouchers are only allowed to be used by Tournament Ambassadors, while in uniform, and during their scheduled shift.
Why is there a Registration Fee to volunteer?
Tournaments under the PGA TOUR are not-for-profit organizations run with the intention to donate net proceeds from the event to local charities in the community. Having a Registration Fee allows the tournament to off-set volunteer expenses, thus allowing our charities to benefit in a greater capacity.
Is there any additional information I should keep in mind regarding my time at the Wells Fargo Championship?
The PGA TOUR takes pride in preventing betting-related corruption at their events. For additional information on the subject, please read about the PGA TOUR Integrity Program.
