Wyndham Clark Set to Defend at Wells Fargo Championship

Other Early Commitments Include Past Champions Rickie Fowler, Lucas Glover, Brian Harman

Charlotte, NC, March 4, 2024— 2023 champion Wyndham Clark will return to defend his title and attempt to become the third multiple winner of the Wells Fargo Championship when the PGA TOUR comes to Charlotte and Quail Hollow Club, May 6-12.

The Wells Fargo Championship returns to Quail Hollow Club for the 19th time as one of eight Signature Events on the PGA TOUR schedule and will feature approximately 70 to 80 of professional golf’s top players.

The Wells Fargo Championship was Clark’s first win on the PGA TOUR and he joined five other players, including Rickie Fowler, Rory McIlroy, and Max Homa, who earned their first TOUR victories at Quail Hollow Club. McIlroy has won the tournament three times and Homa twice.

Tournament officials also announced today early commitments from past champions Lucas Glover (2011), Fowler (2012), and Brian Harman (2017), who had a combined four victories on the PGA TOUR last season. Clark (U.S. Open) and Harman (The Open Championship) won two of golf’s four major championships in 2023.

In addition, the 2023 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year Eric Cole and rising star Sahith Theegala, a 2023 TOUR winner, have committed early, and both will be making their second starts at the Wells Fargo Championship.

As a Signature Event on this year’s TOUR schedule, the Wells Fargo Championship will also feature a no-cut format for the 72-hole stroke-play competition.

Here are the player eligibility requirements (eligible players are not required to compete):

  • Top 50 from the previous season’s FedExCup standings.
  • Top 10 Available from current FedExCup standings and not already in the field (Aon Next 10).
  • Top Five Available from the FedExCup standings during the schedule swing (Corales Puntacana Championship, Zurich Classic of New Orleans, Byron Nelson) leading up to the Wells Fargo Championship (Aon Swing 5).
  • Current-year tournament winners and PGA TOUR members in the top 30 of the Official World Rankings, who are not already in the field.
  • Four sponsor exemptions who are PGA TOUR members.

The Wells Fargo Championship is partnering with Ticketmaster to streamline the ticket purchase process for fans. To purchase tickets, please visit wellsfargochampionship.com/tickets. Children ages 15 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult.

The tournament also has a Military Ticket program. Verified members of the military will receive two tickets to any day of the tournament at no cost. Up to four additional tickets can be purchased at a reduced price. Military members and one guest will also be allowed admittance to the Patriots Outpost located on the 15th tee.
