Tournament Interview With:

SEAMUS POWER

Thursday May 2, 2019

Q. Seamus, I know it was a tough finish but just some thoughts on your round today after getting started after a really good finish at Zurich.

SEAMUS POWER: Yeah, I was pleased obviously to I will probably be more pleased in about 15 minutes, but overall it was a good day. The golf course is tough, the greens are firm. You don't have a lot of margin for error, especially on the last. If you get out of position off the tee, all of a sudden it becomes very difficult. Solid start. Obviously not the finish I wanted there at the end, but certainly in good position and I'm not going to be out of it after day one.

Q. Talk about that little stretch through the middle of the back nine there, birdie birdie eagle.

SEAMUS POWER: Yeah, I parred the first 12 holes. I had a few chances, nothing crazy. Hit a good iron shot into 13 and made that, and that kind of got me going in a lovely way to 14. Holed out from the bunker at 15, which was nice. Overall pretty pleased. Obviously when you double the last if you double the first, you're delighted with it. So it's one of those things that it's a tough hole and didn't play as well as I wanted, but see if I can get one back tomorrow.

Q. Just coming in here, as I said, a top 5 finish last week with your partner David, who you actually played with today, which is kind of funny. Is there a comfort level in that?

SEAMUS POWER: Absolutely. Obviously we played four rounds together last week and Dave's a great guy to play with. He's one of those guys who's just easy. He's got good rhythm so it's kind of easy to follow him. Yes, we had a good vibe. We were first off, so we kind of had the course to ourselves there for a while. The wind's perfect, perfect morning, so we really had the best day this morning.

Q. How distinctive are these three finishing holes?

SEAMUS POWER: Yeah, I mean, they're tough. There's nothing that kind of really sneaks up on you about this. I mean, 16 you've got to hit a very good tee shot, and even then today back into the wind you've got a long second shot. 17 is just an intimidating hole where you can only miss it on one side. 18 with the wind off the left today is awkward because you've really got to turn it back against the wind; even then it's not an easy second. So it's a tough stretch and whoever's going to play those well this week is going to have a good chance on Sunday.

Q. Was there anything in particular that tripped you up on 18?

SEAMUS POWER: I hit it in the right bunker and didn't get a very good lie, that's about all.

Q. 15?

SEAMUS POWER: Holed my bunker shot. That was a lucky one. That was nice, a little bonus.
