Where is the Wells Fargo Championship golf tournament held?

The 2017 Wells Fargo Championship will be held at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, NC.
The tournament will return to Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, NC in 2018 and 2019.

How can I purchase tickets for the tournament?

Do you offer ticket refunds?

There are no refunds or exchanges. All sales are final.

What is the ticket policy for children?

Children 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult ticket holder (one child per adult).

Do Wells Fargo Team Members receive a discount on tickets?

Yes, Wells Fargo Team Members have a special ticket offer that concludes March 1st. To access the special offer, please visit You must be Wells Fargo Team Member with a valid employee ID number to access the offer.

Is there a Military Ticket program?

In an effort to show our appreciation, the Wells Fargo Championship and USO of NC will invite up to 1,000 active and retired military ID card holders to attend the tournament, May 1-7, 2017. Each military card holder will receive two complimentary tickets. This offer applies to each day of tournament week and is limited to the first 1,000 daily grounds tickets allotted.

Military Ticket Program Notes:

  • This offer is for active and retired Military ID card holders only.
  • Due to the limited amount of tickets available, only 2 tickets per day, per military ID card holder will be distributed.
  • Tickets must be picked up at one of the tournament Will Call locations when you present your valid Military ID card
    • Will Call locations will be open May 1-7, 2017
      • Eagle Point Golf Club (on-site Will Call location)
      • Mayfaire Town Center – located near Belk Department Store (off-site location Will Call)
  • Children 12 and under, do not need tickets when accompanied by a ticket holding adult.

Will tickets be available to purchase on-site?

No. With the sellout of daily grounds tickets, there will be NO tickets sales on-site at the main gate as previously planned by tournament officials. The Will Call location at the main entrance will be open to service those who have previously purchased tickets and for those picking up tickets left in their name by a friend or associate.

Why does my ticket purchase charge appear on my credit card
statement as “Champions for Education”?

Champions for Education is the non-profit host organization that manages and operates the Wells Fargo Championship.

Can I leave the tournament and then come back on the same day?

We do not offer re-entry. Once you are admitted to the course, your ticket is punched and you won't be allowed back in the gates after exiting.

  • General Spectator Parking - Main Lot

    Shuttles run: 6:00 a.m. until 9:00p.m.

    The tournament’s main parking for general spectators will be located at the Hampstead, NC “Spot Festival” property located at 14121 US-Highway 17. This property is the site of the NC Spot Festival held annually in the fall. Designated tournament shuttles will run from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday of tournament week.

  • Downtown Shuttle Service - Downtown Wilmington, NC

    Shuttle Service Site: Harnett Street between North 3rd and North Front Streets

    Shuttles run: 6:00 a.m. until 9:00p.m.

    The Wells Fargo Championship will provide shuttle service from an area designated as the City of Wilmington Transportation Hub. This shuttle site is located on the south side of Harnett Street between North 3rd and North Front streets. The tournament does not control pricing or availability in ANY parking lots that surround this property or other parking facilities in the downtown area. Designated tournament shuttles will run from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday of tournament week.

  • Handicapped Parking - Lowe’s Home Improvement

    191 Porters Neck Road, Wilmington, NC 28411

    Parking and Shuttle Service
    Shuttles run: 6:00 a.m. until 9:00p.m.

    Parking for those with special needs will be located in a “reserved” area of LOWE’s Home Improvement at 191 Porters Neck Road during tournament week. Patrons must apply for access to our Handicapped Parking lot. Please visit to complete an application. The tournament will provide properly equipped shuttles designed specifically for the transportation needs of these special needs guests.

  • Rideshare Options

    Drop-off and Pick-up locations- General Spectator Parking and Downtown Shuttle
    Monday, May 1 – Sunday, May 7

    For fans using Uber, Lyft or other rideshare companies including taxi and limo services, these providers MUST proceed to the tournament’s general spectator parking lot in Hampstead or the Transportation Hub downtown for drop-off and pick-up. These are the only locations rideshare users will be able to access the tournament.There is NO drop-off location for rideshare users in the Market Street/Porter’s Neck Road area.

  • Will I be able to walk, ride my bike or golf cart to the tournament?

    No. Please review the New Hanover County Public Safety Information for details.

  • If the Main Parking Lot in Hampstead is full when I arrive will I be directed somewhere else?

    Yes. The tournament does have a contingency plan for parking overflow situation. Parking attentdants and signage will be provided to assist and direct if such a situation occurs.

  • If I do not have my ticket can I still park in the official tournament lot and ride the shuttle?

    Yes. If you have a ticket waiting for you at Will-Call or need to purchase a ticket, you can do so once you are dropped off by the tournament shuttle service at the tournament’s Main Entrance. There will be a Will-Call location here where you can either pick up a ticket that someone left for you or you can purchase a grounds ticket. You must ride the tournament shuttle to get here. You cannot drive to this Will Call location.

  • Will I be searched before I get on any of the tournament’s shuttles?

    Yes. All patrons will be searched prior to boarding any of the tournament’s official shuttles. We suggest all patrons read the prohibited items list and the permitted items list before leaving for the tournament. Both lists are located on our website under the Spectator tab.

  • How long will the shuttle ride take to get to and from the golf course?

    From the Main Parking Lot in Hampstead it will take approximately 15 to 25 minutes based on traffic. From the City of Wilmington Transportation Hub in downtown Wilmington it will take approximately 30 minutes each way, depending on traffic.

  • Where do Tournament Volunteers (Ambassadors) park?

    We encourage Tournament Volunteers (Ambassadors) to park in the Main Parking Lot in Hampstead. If volunteers opt to utilize the Downtown Shuttle, please note the tournament does not control pricing or availability in ANY parking lots that surround this property or other parking facilities in the downtown area.

What is your bag policy?

The PGA TOUR’s bag policy is very similar to those you see at other major sporting events.

I am disabled or have a guest with Special Needs; Will I have access to and the ability
to move about at the tournament?

The tournament will provide a designated Handicap Parking area at Lowes Home Improvement at 191 Porters Neck Road, Wilmington, NC 28411. Dedicated wheelchair accessible buses will shuttle disabled persons and their guests to the tournament. We will have a Special Needs Committee available to assist these patrons. Where is tournament Will Call located?

There will be two authorized tournament Will-Call locations. The Main Will-Call will be next to the Belk Department Store at 980 Inspiration Way in the Mayfaire Town Center. A secondary Will-Call, accessible only to patrons arriving on official tournament shuttles, will be located at the Tournament Entrance on Porters Neck Road at Eagle Point Golf Club. Both locations will be clearly marked and will be open from Monday through Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 6:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets or pick-up tickets at either location. Tickets are not required to board an official tournament shuttle.

Please note: The deadline for PGA TOUR players to commit to a TOUR event is Friday at 5:00 p.m. prior to the next week’s tournament. Keep in mind, players can withdraw from a tournament at any time.

How much money has been donated to charity by the Wells Fargo

The Wells Fargo Championship has donated over $19 million to charity in fourteen years.

Is there a Monday qualifier?

The Monday Qualifier is run by the Carolinas Section PGA. Online Registration will be available through their website

What is the tournament purse?

The Wells Fargo Championship tournament purse is $7.5 million. The first place winner of the 2017 tournament will receive $1.35 million

I’m interested in renting my house during the tournament. How do I explore this opportunity?

If you are interested in renting your home during the 2017 Wells Fargo Championship in Wilmington, please contact a local realty company that handles vacation rentals or place a listing on Airbnb or VRBO.

I live in Porters Neck neighborhood and would like to rent my house during the tournament.

The Porter’s Neck Homeowners Association has created a form on their website for residents interested in renting their homes during the 2017 Wells Fargo Championship. The process is quick and easy - once the form is completed, simply click submit and the form will be sent directly to the Wells Fargo Championship. Homeowners will be contacted in early 2017 if a rental request is received that fits their home.

How long is the Wells Fargo Championship scheduled to be held?

The tournament is currently scheduled to be played annually around the first weekend in May through 2019. Wells Fargo is the title sponsor of the tournament.

Will the Wells Fargo Championship stay in Wilmington?

No. The tournament will return to Quail Hollow Club, in Charlotte, NC in 2018 and 2019.

Why is the Wells Fargo Championship not in Charlotte in 2017?

With the PGA Championship being played at Quail Hollow Club in August, the Wells Fargo Championship will have to be played elsewhere because preparations for the PGA Championship will be in full-swing.

Isn’t the Wells Fargo Championship a PGA event?

No. The Wells Fargo Championship is a PGA TOUR event. The PGA of America conducts the PGA Championship—one of golf’s four major championships.

Why wouldn’t the Wells Fargo Championship stay in Charlotte that year at another golf course?

The PGA TOUR, Wells Fargo and Champions For Education (the tournament host organization) looked at several areas in Charlotte and other nearby cities. Because of several factors all three parties concluded this region of North Carolina would be a perfect fit for one year. Through the years, several venues on the PGA TOUR have hosted major championships at the site of an annual TOUR event. And, the TOUR event has moved to another venue within the region with great success.

Has there ever been a PGA TOUR event in Wilmington?

Yes. But not at Eagle Point. There was a PGA TOUR event there from 1949 to 1971 and the tournament was called The Azalea Open during most of that time. Winners included Arnold Palmer, Mike Souchak and Art Wall, Jr.

Is Eagle Point similar to Quail Hollow Club?

Eagle Point, which opened in 2000, was designed by Tom Fazio and is currently among the Top 100 Golf Digest courses in America. Fazio has overseen alterations and re-design of Quail Hollow Club for several years. While it is obviously in a different region of the state and on the coast, several TOUR players have played Eagle Point and believe it will be well received by the TOUR players.
