Sergio Garcia, Camilo Villegas, Robert Karlsson Latest to Join Field
Charlotte, NC—Once again the Wells Fargo Championship is attracting some of the game's best players to the Charlotte area for the April 27-May 3 PGA TOUR event.
Ten of the top 20 players on the Official World Golf Rankings are already committed with five weeks remaining before Championship Week. Included among that list are World No. 3 Sergio Garcia, No. 5 Padraig Harrington, No. 7 Camilo Villegas, No. 9 Robert Karlsson, No. 11 Jim Furyk, No. 12 Anthony Kim, No.13 Paul Casey, No. 15 Steve Stricker, No. 18 Stewart Cink and No. 20 Adam Scott.
"With just over a month remaining before the commitment deadline, this is an impressive group of players who are making early plans to attend this year's Wells Fargo Championship," said Kym Hougham, Executive Director of the Wells Fargo Championship. "Given the past fields we have had, we certainly believe this trend will continue as we get closer to the end of April."
In addition to the game's top ranked players in the world, 17 of the top 30 from the 2008 PGA TOUR money list are committed as are 19 of the top 30 from this year's PGA TOUR money list.
Among this group is 2003 tournament champion David Toms, Davis Love III, Boo Weekley, Carl Pettersson, Robert Allenby, K.J. Choi, and D.J. Trahan.
