Early Player Commitments to Wells Fargo Championship Include Four of the Top Ten in World Rankings

Vijay Singh Set to Defend and John Daly Returns

CHARLOTTE N.C., February 27, 2006 – With a little over two months to go before the fourth edition of the Wells Fargo Championship, some of the world’s best players are already making plans to come to Quail Hollow Club, May 1-7.

Defending champion Vijay Singh heads a group of the world’s top-ranked players including 2003 champion David Toms, two-time U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen and President’s Cup hero Chris DiMarco, who have officially committed to the Wells Fargo Championship.  Singh is currently ranked second in the world and Goosen, who will make his first appearance in Charlotte, is third. Toms is World No. 9 and DiMarco is No. 10.

John Daly, who played in the inaugural Wells Fargo Championship but has missed the past two years, has also officially committed along with the equally popular Fred Funk.  Accepting early tournament invitations are three-time Masters Champion Nick Faldo and European star Lee Westwood.

“We certainly are excited about the players who have already officially made plans to attend this year’s championship,” said Tournament Director Kym Hougham. “I believe this is an early indication that we will have another strong field for the patrons who have purchased tickets already and for those who have the opportunity to purchase in the coming weeks.”

Players have until the Friday prior to the Wells Fargo Championship to enter the tournament. The field will consist of 156 players when the first tee shots are hit on Thursday, May 4.

Remaining Daily tickets are on sale now. Ticket options include a Practice Pack that consists of daily tickets for Monday’s pro-am along with Tuesday and Wednesday’s practice and Pro-Am rounds for $25. Tickets for the first two rounds Thursday and Friday are $30 each and tickets for the final two rounds Saturday and Sunday are $40 each. The general public may purchase tickets by visiting www.wachoviachampionship.com or by calling (800) 945-0777.

Weekly ticket books are also available and cost $130 each. The books include admission to all seven days of the tournament. With ticket books, the same person does not have to use the ticket each day, allowing family members, friends and business associates to share the experience of the event.

Proceeds from the 2006 Wells Fargo Championship will benefit Teach For America, a national education foundation that provides a corps of outstanding recent college graduates of all academic majors who commit to teach for two years in underserved urban and rural public schools.

The Wells Fargo Championship’s $6 million purse is one of the highest on the PGA TOUR, guaranteeing the winner in excess of $1 million. In 2005, the Wells Fargo Championship signed an agreement with the PGA TOUR to hold the event in Charlotte through the year 2010.

Teach for American is the primary charity of the Wells Fargo Championship, which has raised $4.2 million for charitable causes in its first three years.
