8 of 10 Top PGA TOUR Money Winners Commit to Play in the Wells Fargo Championship
Paul Azinger, Stewart Appleby, Larry Mize and Mark O'Meara among today's player commitments
CHARLOTTE N.C., May 2, 2003 - Wells Fargo Championship tournament officials today announced the field for the 2003 Wells Fargo Championship. The tournament will be held May 5-11 at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C.
Some of the notable commitments received today include Paul Azinger, Stewart Appleby, Larry Mize and Mark O'Meara. A copy of the full player commitment list is attached.
The commitment list could change at any time between now and Thursday, May 8 due to players withdrawing from the Wells Fargo Championship. Alternates will fill the spots of players who withdraw to fill the 156 player field.
The tournament has received commitments from 40 of the top 50 PGA TOUR money leaders including 2003 Master's champion Mike Weir, Davis Love III, Vijay Singh, Nick Price, Justin Leonard and Fred Couples.
