HOSPITALITY RELATIONS

Volunteers on the Hospitality Relations Committee will work in Hospitality venues/areas throughout the golf course. Volunteers need to be knowledgeable, helpful, courteous, respectful and diplomatic. Volunteers may be required to stand at their assigned areas throughout their shift. However, stools will be provided for rest when there are no patrons entering or exiting the venue. Rotation and breaks will be provided.

There will be two roles within this committee—Guest Relations and Venue Access

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring the access points to the Hospitality Venues
  • Ensure that only those with proper credentials/tickets are allowed in each specific venue
  • Assist in the admission process
  • Act as concierge for the designated sponsor area

Volunteers are needed Monday through Sunday. Most volunteers will be needed Thursday through Sunday

Monday and Tuesday-Guest Relations only
Wednesday to Sunday-Guest Relations and Venue Access

At least one scheduled shift must be on a tournament day—Thursday through Sunday. Volunteers are asked to work two full days in the same venue in an effort to provide better customer service and continuity for our guests. The tournament would welcome and appreciate volunteers to work 4 full days.

Featured Story: Staci McBride 2004

At the 2004 Wells Fargo Championship, you can look forward to the same top-notch hospitality everyone was talking about last year, thanks to the Hospitality Ambassadors.

Staci McBride is a volunteer on the Hospitality Committee, which helps with admissions and concierge-type services. Staci says she's back for a second year because "being part of the Championship is an exciting opportunity for all of Charlotte. Because I am a Wachovia employee, there is a special sense of pride that goes along with volunteering."

"I was a Hospitality volunteer last year and it was a fantastic experience," she continues, "Everyone that we interacted with was amazed at the level of service and quality of the entire event. Many were already talking about coming again this year. I enjoyed working with the other volunteers and assisting the patrons and PGA staff. Anytime you can make someone smile and enjoy themselves more, than you know you've done your job and you feel great about it."

One stressful-but-exciting aspect of serving on the Hospitality Committee is the opportunity to interact with golfers and celebrities—although Staci handles it like a pro. "I'm not nervous about this," she admits, "because these individuals need the same assistance as everyone else. They appreciate the help and information we can provide and express their thanks. They seem more appreciative and relax when you treat them like a 'normal' person and don't make a big deal about who they are."

OK. So celebrities are just like the rest of us, but we wondered does Staci have a favorite golfer she's hoping to see? "I enjoy watching a number of them play, but especially like Phil Mickelson."
