CHARITY

As in last year,  the majority of the proceeds from the Wells Fargo Championship will benefit Teach For America Charlotte, the national corps of outstanding recent college graduates who commit two years to teach in urban and rural public schools and become lifelong leaders in expanding educational opportunity.

Since 1990, more than 18,000 exceptional individuals have joined Teach For America, directly impacting the lives of more than 2.5 million students. Teach For America alumni are a force of leaders working from inside education and every other sector to effect the systemic change needed to ensure educational equity and excellence for all children.

Today, approximately 7,500 Teach For America corps members are teaching in 35 locations across the U.S., including the Mississippi Delta, New Mexico, New York City, and some 260 of the nation's top recent college graduates are right here in North Carolina. Currently in Charlotte, 230 Corp Members are going above and beyond traditional expectations to lead 14,000 students to significant academic achivement each day.

During their two years, corps members go above and beyond to ensure that their students make significant, measurable academic progress. At the same time, corps members gain the insight and added commitment to continue to work throughout their lives to eliminate the academic achievement gap.
