Fred Couples, Michael Jordan Teammates In Wednesday Pro-Am
For Immediate Release
Charlotte, NC—April 27, 2010— Fred Couples, one of golf’s most dynamic players and basketball Hall of Fame member Michael Jordan will play together in the Wednesday Pro-Am.
Jordan, the majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, will be making his second appearance in the Wells Fargo Championship Wednesday competition.
“We are excited Michael has agreed to join us again this year,” said Kym Hougham, Executive Director of the Wells Fargo Championship. “Michael and Fred are two great personalities and I am positive the fans will enjoy interacting with both of them and watching them compete.”
Couples was recently named U.S. captain for the 2011 Presidents Cup. Last fall his U.S. squad won the bi-annual event when Couples was the captain for the first time. Jordan was a captain’s assistant for that competition.
About the Wells Fargo Championship
The Wells Fargo Championship is one of the largest, most prestigious sporting events in the Charlotte region. Champions for Education, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, operates and manages the tournament and has donated over $11 million to local and regional charities since 2003. Now leading up to its eighth edition, the tournament is intended as an annual tradition that will bring players and patrons back each year for an unforgettable golf experience. The 2010 tournament will be held April 26-May 2. In 2009, the tournament earned “Best In Class” as the top event on the PGA TOUR schedule. A combination of Quail Hollow Club and the spirit of the Charlotte area community are among the reasons the Wells Fargo Championship has and should continue to draw many of the world's top golfers to Charlotte.
